Biometric authentication technology, as an advanced means of identity recognition, is gradually replacing traditional identity authentication methods. Compared to traditional identity recognition technology, biometric authentication technology has the advantages of being difficult to forget, difficult to replicate, and does not require setting and memorizing numerous passwords, effectively reducing the risk of password loss and leakage.


Biometric authentication technology mainly utilizes biological or behavioral features to verify individual identity, including physiological and behavioral characteristics. Physiological features such as fingerprints, iris, retina, face, etc. are innate, while behavioral features such as signatures, speech, gait, etc. are acquired.


Among them, iris recognition is considered one of the most reliable biometric features. The iris recognition system performs pattern comparison by scanning the surface of the iris, and when obtaining a unique iris image in a controlled environment, the system has very high accuracy. However, once the environment becomes uncontrollable, such as being affected by noise factors such as eyelids, eyelashes, and reflections, the system performance may significantly decrease.


Facial recognition is another common biometric authentication technology that performs identity recognition by collecting and analyzing feature information from facial images. However, facial recognition technology also has certain limitations, such as the possibility of recognition system errors in poor lighting conditions or when wearing decorations.


Although biometric authentication technology has significant advantages in the field of identity recognition, it still faces challenges in terms of technical availability, reliability, and application. In the future, with the continuous advancement of technology and the expansion of application scenarios, biometric authentication technology will play an important role in more fields.
